Grand plan for Swindon leisure centre unveiled

 

This is the shape of things to come in North Star Swindon if Moirai Capital Investments Limited get their way.

 

The company - who took over the Oasis Leisure Centre from Swindon Borough Council on a long-term lease last year - plan to invest nearly £100 million to transform the site to include an indoor ski centre, a 7,500 seater concert venue, multi-plex cinema, hotel and new sports & leisure facilities incl. ten-pin bowling.

 

The groundbreaking Oasis dome and pool, which was first opened on 01 January 1976, will be retained and upgraded.

 

Swindon Borough Council have endorsed the proposed changes to the existing plans in principle, and encouraged Moirai to proceed to acquire outline planning permission.

 

Work is scheduled to start in summer 2014.
