Three defeats in a row
Swindon Wildcats feel the strike against Milton Keynes Lightning
Facing their third game in the space of a week, and after two defeats Swindon hosted the MK Lightning at the Link Centre. The previous meeting Swindon went down 5-1 so were looking to make amends on home ice.
The game got off to a fast pace with both teams looking to open the scoring, but, with both keepers on top form neither side could find the net. Eventually it was MK who took the lead with 3 minutes of the first period remaining and sending the visitors into the break 1-0 up. In the second period things got heated between the teams with both side throwing round some big hits and eventually a fight breaking out seeing Nicky Watt send to the sin bin.
It was Jozef Kohut who scored the next goal and the period ended with one goal a piece. The third period started and there was an early goal for MK giving them the 2-1 lead.
Swindon attacked the MK net but with some outstanding goal keeping they struggled to level the score. With just under a minute left of the game Swindon pulled the goalie giving them the extra skater to try and get a late goal and send the game to overtime, but with some tight defending from MK, Swindon couldn't equalize and the game ended 2-1 to the visitors.
With three defeats in the space of a week, Swindon will need to get back to winning ways soon if they want to keep there playoff hopes alive.
