Revved Up For 2014 

Busy Christmas for Dan Ludlow Racing as they get ready for a big season ahead 

 

Dan Ludlow, a local engineering company owner, will be competing on the national motor racing scene in 2014 with his own team behind him.

 

Dan Ludlow Racing is a voluntary team of engineers from the Swindon area who are helping Dan to prepare and race his Honda Civic Type R. The car is currently undergoing a complete rebuild and is being re-built to compete primarily in Britcar Production Class races.

If the car, pictured above, seems familiar that is because it previously belonged to Synchro Motorsport, the Honda factory team. The car was used by Synchro, predominantly in Britcar races, from 2008 – 2011 and was then sold on to Dan during 2012.

 

In mid-2013 Dan made the decision to completely strip and rebuild the car and has carried out most of the work himself so far. He has painstakingly and methodically removed and inspected every single component, replacing where necessary. The shell has been professionally re-sprayed and the engine rebuilt using many new specialised components.

 

 

The rebuild has now started in earnest at Dan’s garage in Peatmoor with the interior and suspension being reassembled. The engine is due back in February and will be mated to a new sequential gearbox to provide Dan with the propulsion he needs to compete with the many professional teams taking part in the Britcar races.

 

May target

 

The team are targeting the Dave Allan Trophy race at Castle Combe on 26^th May for the car’s race debut. They will then compete in the final 4 British based rounds of the Britcar Endurance Sports and Touring Car Championship.

 

The pace of the rebuild and the on-going competitiveness of the team are to an extent dictated by cash flow as the team is currently self-funded by Dan.
