Swindon Runners Take On The Wall! 

It's Carlisle to Newcastle for these three this weekend - all in one day!

 

We all know how popular running is in Swindon, with hundreds taking part in the half marathon every year plus those jogging a few miles in parks to keep fit.

 

But three keen runners in Swindon are now taking it to the next level - a 69 mile ultra marathon all in one day!

 

Iain Burgess, Richard Bailey and Filipe Peidade are taking on The Wall this weekend, a cross terrain run all the way from Carlisle to Newcastle.

 

"It's certainly going to be a challenge" Iain, General Manager of Stanton House Hotel told us, "and much more than our usual training around Coate Water!"

 

"But we're all looking forward to it. We know we can do it and we're all hoping to raise as much money as possible.

 

"We're all just hoping it's not the hottest day of the year!"

 

Iain estimates they'll complete the run in just shy of twenty hours.

Update: We're pleased to report that all three men completed the mammoth event in an impressive 19 hours and 32 minutes.
