Highworth overcome Tadcaster to set up semi-final FA Vase clash
Highworth Town fans were celebrating again tonight after the 'Worthians' sprung a surprise in Yorkshire to book a place in the semi-final of the FA Vase.
The Hellenic League Premier Division side overcame Tadcaster Albion 1-0 in a tight, tension-filled replay after the two sides drew 1-1 at the Elms last week.
Highworth even survived a penalty just before half-time before Callum Parson latched on to a long ball with fifteen minutes to go to send Highworth's travelling support in to raptures and dreaming of a place in a Wembley final.
Unfortunately, violent scenes at the final-whistle marred the fixture, with Highworth chairman Rohan Haines suffering a bloodied nose.
Both teams have released statements promising to work with the FA to bring 'a swift conclusion to this unpleasant and unfortunate incident'.
Tyneside trip
Highworth now face a trip to North Shields in Newcastle in a two-legged semi-final.
