Shake Up Your Wake Up!
It's Breakfast Week! Enjoy the most important meal of the day at one of these Arkell's managed houses
Breakfast Week (24-30 January) is an annual celebration of the most important meal of the day!
The aim is to Shake Up Your Wake Up and make sure you enjoy a hearty start to the day - whether that's a bacon sandwich, a bowl of cereal or a mightily filling full English.
And knowing how busy it can be first thing in the morning, Arkell's have a number of conveniently located managed houses in Swindon where you can stop-off and tuck-in!
Here's 10 tasty reasons to enjoy breakfast at an Arkell's managed pub...
The Sun Inn, Coate
Always a popular destination first thing in the morning, this pub really gets going when the sun rises!
The extensive breakfast menu at The Sun is
served from 8.00am Monday to Saturday and includes the traditional Full English (with
'Extreme' option!) as well as a superb vegetarian breakfast with veggie sausages.
We particularly like the sound of their
'Wake Up Wiltshire' offering with Wiltshire ham, two sunny side up eggs and hash browns. Let's go to work!
The Saracen's Head Hotel, Highworth
This pub is famous for its
'Saracens Weekend Breakfast'!
Served every Saturday and Sunday from 8.30am to 10.30am, you'll find an excellent choice of plate fillers and lighter options depending on your appetite.
'The Saracen's Full' includes cereals and toast beforehand followed by the traditional bacon, egg, sausage, tomato, fried bread, beans, mushrooms and the rest with tea, coffee or juice to wash it all down with. All for just £9.95.
The Tawny Owl, Swindon
The Tawny Owl is another pub that's well known for its generous portions, which, handily, extend to their breakfast menu.
Served every day except Sunday from 9.00am - 11.30am, The Tawny offers all the proper breakfast options including full English, vegetarian (which includes a pepper and potato omelette), continental, sandwiches (bacon or sausage) plus their healthy option which includes cottage cheese, grilled avocado, roasted tomato, poached egg on granary.
The Angel Hotel, Royal Wootton Bassett
Here's the perfect stop-off if you're in the Bassett area of town first thing.
The Angel takes great pride in using locally sourced food and ingredients, so expect to find the bacon and eggs on the menu most probably from Bassett itself. Served from 8.00am - 10.30am on week days, and from 8.30am on weekends, their menu features a fantastic array of breakfast options including the Full English, Eggs Benedict with muffin, poached eggs, ham and Hollandaise sauce and Smoked Kippers in a lemon butter with poached egg and wholemeal bread.
The Plough, Badbury
This is one pub geared up for breakfast - all served from 9.00 til 11.00am.
Continuing the Arkell's 3Bs tradition, no wonder the Badbury Breakfast Bap is their top seller at just £4.95 with
grilled tomato, fried egg, smoked bacon, pork sausage and a giant hash brown all in one mouthful! Or all on a plate with toast.
For filling up the kids their
'Little Monsters Mini Breakies' are brilliant value at just £2.50.
The Riverside, Lechlade
With a big roaring fire in the bar this is one place to warm up as well as fill-up first thing in the morning.
Served from 7.30am until noon, we like the look of their omelettes (just five quid!), bubble and squeak which includes 2 rashes of bacon, 2 eggs, mashed potato and cabbage and what they describe as 'Special Treats' - smoked salmon and scrambled eggs or eggs benedict with ham or smoked salmon.
Excellent coffee too!
And for those who want a late, late breakfast...
The following pubs aren't up and serving breakfast quite as early as the others but they are extremely accommodating for those who fancy a full English or bacon sarnie later on in the day.
The Kingsdown
The Moonrakers
The Runner
