James Forrester-Wood from Swindon Chiropractic Clinic looks at the dreadful duo - the Lawnmower & Wheelie Bin!
Everyone loves a garden in summer! The perfect place to relax, unwind and enjoy the beautiful, warm weather while we can.
But as any gardener knows, it also takes some hard work to keep it tip top - especially if you've a nice lawn to keep cut!

And at the Swindon Chiropractic Clinic, over the last 30 years it's doing just that which causes so many back complaints - especially when patients mention the dreadful duo of the landmover & wheelie bin!
At Swindon Chiro the advice is simple:
take care the most at the START & END of the day if you're mowing the lawn, then clearing up the grass cutting afterwards. We can be rushing at both times, and it's when injuries tend to happen the most.
Just getting the mower out of the shed can cause a strain before your back has fully warmed up - and then twisting to move a heavy wheelie bin while a glass of white wine awaits is never a good thing!
In both cases:
- when moving the lawnmower & wheelie bin, keep the back straight & keep the object close to you
- bend your arms & knees to take the strain
- avoid twisting
- don't rush!
Prevention is always better than cure, as after all your hard work we want everyone to sit back & enjoy their garden - not be feeling the pain of your endeavours!
And if you are suffering any niggles or back pain, don't forget Swindon Chiropractic Clinic are there to help.
