Charlie Austin cut a forlorn figure as boos rang out at the County Ground. 

 

Swindon fans vented their frustration at the final whistle after seeing a new year performance woefully short of confidence and invention - and worryingly with few chances.

 

Leading scorer Austin clearly frustrated as he toiled upfront with very little service or support. And with the transfer window now open, looking like a player surely looking elsewhere for scoring opportunities.

 

Lacklustre

 

Bournemouth took the lead from the spot after Andy Frampton handled but Swindon soon hit back with a cool finish from Matt Ritchie.

 

But despite three subsitutions in an hour of largely unexciting football, Swindon eventually paid for their lacklustre approach when Jason Pearce's 80th minute scissor-kick sealed the points.

 

Town fall to 18th with an away game at high-flying Charlton on Monday evening to look forward to.
