RESULT: Swindon 1 Dagenham & Redbridge 1

Swindon endured a tortuous last ten minutes as their dismal run without a win stretched to fourteen games.

 

First Dagenham & Redbridge grabbed a dramatic equaliser with seven minutes to go before Paul Caddis was sandwiched and brought down in the box in injury time - but the referee waved play on.

 

A controversial decision manager Paul Hart felt summed up Swindon's day.

 

"It just didn't go for us today despite our best endeavours," the new boss lamented.

 

"It was clearly a penalty but he didn't give it and we have to accept that and move on. The positives are we had the possession and the chances and we were definitely the better team."

 

First Grella goal

 

In a typically nervy relegation battle, Swindon edged the latter part of the first half when Douglas was denied before loanee Mike Grella brilliantly lobbed the Dagger's goalkeeper.

 

But in tricky conditions, neither side took complete control of the game, despite veteran goalkeeper Tony Roberts making two vital saves. 

 

In a tactical substitution, Grella was replaced by Michael Rose with ten minutes to go and three minutes later it was 1-1.

 

Jon Nurse in the right place at the right time to head home after Swindon failed to clear.

 

The draw leaves Town still in the bottom four.
