Raffaele De Vita fired Swindon into a second round Carling Cup clash with Southampton at the County Ground next Tuesday in a night of relief for Paulo Di Canio.

 

After a run of three league losses and a derby defeat against Oxford, the Swindon manager was under pressure to get Swindon's season under way.

 

And after a first-half of possession and better chances against Town's Championship rivals, it was De Vita's header which eventually broke the deadlock with nineteen minutes to go.

 

"If you play with desire, discipline and passion, you can get a result. And we got that tonight," Di Canio commented.
