Decisive goals either side of half-time were enough for Town to record their first back-to-back wins under Paolo Di Canio.

 

The first arrived from the right boot of subsitute Jonathan Smith, who shot low after coming on for the injured Oliver Risser.

 

The second also perfectly timed when the hard-working Kerrouche slotted home with aplomb with the visitors still settling into the second-half.

 

Southend hit the crossbar and had another good chance fall to former Robin Blair Sturrock only for him to see Swindon's impressive new keeper Mattia Lanzano save at point-blank range.

 

"Again we played with intelligence because Southend deserved our respect," Di Canio commented.
