Paolo Di Canio was still "super proud" of this team despite seeing Jermaine Beckford end Swindon's FA Cup adventure.

 

The Leicester striker pounced twice at the start of each half - the first after only five minutes - as Town learned a brutal lesson in the importance of clinical finishing.

In a free-flowing game watched by 4,000 travelling fans and hundreds in pubs across Swindon, Town were more than a match for their Championship opponents - especially during the first half when only a desperate late block stopped Matt Ritchie deservedly levelling the tie.

 

But despite the poccession, the Robins found clear cut chances hard to come by and just couldn't find a way back after Beckford made it 2-0.

 

The game could have changed when Leicester defender Paul Konchesky should have been sent off for a rash tackle on Simon Ferry, but Di Canio refused to complain about the overall result.

 

"I'm super proud of what we achieved and the fans. We played well and competed here today as a team. We'll learn from this," he commented, before turning his attention to the League trip to Southend on Tuesday.

 

"We must recharge our batteries. We cannot forget the League is now our number one priority."
