Game On For Town Fans At Gillingham

 

Swindon's game at Gillingham on Saturday will go ahead as normal after a dispute with Kent Police was resolved.

 

The match was due to be played behind closed doors after an argument over security costs but both home and away supporters will now be admitted.

RESULT: Aldershot Town 2 Swindon Town 1

Aldershot scorers: Madjo 12, Hylton 58

Swindon scorer: Caddis (pen) 53

 

Town fans will have to wait until Gillingham on Saturday - and (possibly) listening on the radio - for news that Swindon have finally clinched promotion.

 

The point Paolo Di Canio and his team needed proved elusive at the Recreation Ground tonight as Aldershot ran out surprise 2-1 winners.

 

Only a second-half equaliser from the penalty spot from Paul Caddis gave Swindon a chance of guaranteed League One football - until Danny Hylton spoilt the party with a close-range effort.
 

"It's only a matter of time," commented Di Canio, who travelled from Italy to manager the side following the death of the mother.
