Di Canio looking forward to season 'opener' tonight

 

Paolo Di Canio was in a relaxed mood as he looked forward to Swindon's biggest pre-seaon test.

 

Town take on Crystal Palace tonight at the County Ground before the season starts properly next week.

 

And after a summer of preparation and new signings, the Town boss believes his squad is ready for the challenge.

 

 

“Every friendly game is an opportunity to see the improvement in the way we want to play especially for the new players I brought in," he said.

 

"It’s obvious also that every game is different and this is the most important one because it’s the last one before the season starts especially because we play at The County Ground in front of our fans.

“It’s a good opportunity to show what position we are at in terms of quality and discipline and I’m curious to see my players tomorrow.


“I didn’t enjoy Supermarine but it’s important to realise together and straight away that it was very bad. We saw the best in the first half against Salisbury. I’m sure that there won’t be any doubt that my players will play differently," he added.

“I’m sure that we will perform well because it’s a friendly playing in front of new fans for the new players. Also for players who have been here to play next to the new players against Palace who are a league above.

 

"I’m sure we will perform well and do our best.”
