Over 10,000 fans saw why Gareth Bale is rated as one of the very best footballers in the world, as managerless Swindon more than played their part in an entertaining friendly.

The Spurs' star - on his birthday - turned out in a strong visiting side that also included Jermaine Defoe, Chris Huddlestone & Scott Parker and only took fifteen minutes to fire home the opener with his lethal left foot.

But after missing a number of other good opportunities - and making numerous substitutions at half-time - Tottenham let a hardworking Town back into the game.

And on 75 minutes, Andy Williams was jubilant after grabbing Town's well deserved equaliser with a 20 yard shot that deflected over Brad Freidel.

Former Spurs player Les Ferdinand has been installed as the bookies favourite to take over as Swindon Town manager after the resignation of Kevin MacDonald.
