Swindon Town were made to pay for a host of silly errors again last night, as they were forced to come from behind twice against a plucky Gillingham side.

 

Despite dominating the game for large periods, Town fell behind as early as the 9th minute after a poor clearance from keeper Wes Foderingham left Gillingham forward Danny Kedwell with a simple finish into an empty net.

 

Town responded in the 43rd minute with Andy Williams finding the inside of the far post after some good work by strike partner Michael Smith.

 

Gillingham restored their lead shortly after half time, Kortney Hause powering home an effort from 20 yards.

 

Late drama

 

As the hosts sat back, Swindon again piled forward and that pressure was to be rewarded late on when Gillingham's on-loan goalkeeper Stephen Bywater inexplicably fumbled a Raphael Branco cross into his own net.

 

Town manager Mark Cooper was again left to reflect on what could have been.

 

"I don't know about congratulations. It should be commiserations, as that's two games that we should have won, and we've had to go to the wire to get a point which is the very least we deserved."
