Swindon Town went toe to toe with Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion last night, but a flurry of late injuries and a red card were to prove costly.
 
Despite a promising spell of early possession, the evening started frustratingly for the home side, with Brighton securing an early lead against the run of play. Rohan Ince unleashing a thunderbolt of a volley from 20 yards to silence the crowd. 
 
As disheartening as that was, Town refused to let their heads drop and their scintillating football was rewarded with an equaliser shortly after half time. The ever lively Massimo Luongo threading through an inch perfect pass to Louis Thompson who converted with ease.
 
Down to 10 men
 
As the game ticked into extra time, Town's fortunes didn't fare so well. Having made all 3 substitutions, a shoulder injury to George Barker left the tiring Town down to 10 men.
 
The man advantage was to prove key. Adrian Colunga put the Seagulls 3-1 up on 99 minutes and despite a brief rally from Swindon (Yaser Kasim pulled a goal back shortly afterwards) Brighton sealed Town's fate with a 4th late on.
