Town's quest for automatic promotion took a knock today after a disheartening 3-0 loss to fellow promotion rivals MK Dons.

 

Despite a plethora of chances for both sides in a pulsating first-half, the game remained goalless at the break.

 

The goals did arrive mid-way through the second half, but unfortunately for Town - not at the right end.

 

Johnny on the spot Daniel Powell opened the scoring with an instinctive header on 60 minutes, with a double from Will Grig sealing Swindon's fate late on.

 

A late flash point between MK Dons captain Dean Lewington and Swindon manager Mark Cooper topped off a frustrating day for the home side.

 

The 30-year old defender lucky to escape a red card after pushing the Town boss to the floor.

 

Town manager Mark Cooper later commented "I don't think it was a 3-0 game. We had to gamble towards the end which left us a bit open. We weren't at our best today and sometimes you have to give the opposition credit. They were good today."
