Town's automatic promotion hopes are lying in tatters tonight following a second consecutive 3-0 defeat.

 

Despite seeing a fair amount of the ball and having the pick of the first half chances, Town's frail back line was again to be their undoing.

 

Luke Freeman pouncing on a defensive blunder in the Town ranks, before feeding Kieran Agard who unleashed a first time shot from 20 yards that Wes Foderingham could do nothing to stop.

 

Swindon responded well, and only the woodwork prevented the equaliser from Ben Gladwin moments later.

 

The second-half saw more chances fall for the away side, but Bristol City had a ruthless streak that Town have simply lacked of late.

 

And despite throwing on Obika for a late Town surge, it was Bristol that put the game to bed in the dying minutes with 2 clinical finishes that leave Town 10 points adrift from second place Preston.

 

Town manager Mark Cooper commented "I thought we played really well. If you don’t put the ball in the net at key moments when you’re on top and leave door the open at the back, you give the other team a chance.
