Nathan Byrne sprung a bigger surprise than the Tories as Swindon edged a crucial lead in the play-off semi-finals.

 

The winger grabbed the winner in the third minute of injury-time after Sam Rickett's bullet header had brought Town level just after the break.

 

Before that Sheffield United had taken a deserved lead through Keiron Freeman in the 19th minute after a sustained spell of pressure - only for Swindon to agonisingly miss their 5th penalty in thirteen attempts this season just after.

 

But after matching their energetic hosts - who missed a sitter in the second-half - Swindon found room to stretch the hosts well before Mark Cooper's team shocked the home crowd and sent the STFC faithful back down the M1 deliriously happy with a late-break with only seconds of added time remaining.

 

"We never settle for draws, we try and win every game," a delighted but still reserved Mark Cooper commented.
