Burton Albion boss Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink continued his dream start to League One management today as Burton inflicted a third defeat of the season on troubled Swindon.

 

After the 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Barnsley just last week, a bright start was imperative at the County Ground.

 

Unfortunately it wasn't to be, and it took just 20 minutes for the fragility of the Swindon back line to again rear its ugly head.

 

Brewers striker Stuart Beavon comfortably beating two Town defenders in the air, before dispatching calmly into the bottom corner.

 

The goal shocked Town into action, and they nearly drew level moments later through Anton Rodgers - only for his wayward shot to fly comfortably over the bar.

 

The second-half introduction of Yaser Kasim and Jon Obika gave the home side a much needed boost, but chances were at a premium for both sides, with only a late freekick from Kasim really testing the opposition keeper.

 

Town manager Mark Cooper later commented "We didn’t create enough to get back in the game, we were sloppy in possession and if we'd have had a trophy today for backpasses we'd have won it. We didn’t do enough by a long shot. 

 

We're still learning about the new players but we can't use that as an excuse. We need to be better, excite fans a bit more and we need to ask more questions of the opposition."
