Swindon 1 Peterborough 2
League One
RESULT: Swindon Town 1 Peterborough 2
Swindon scorer: Bostwick 73 (og)
Peterborough scorers: Taylor 38, Angol 52
Who'd be a goalkeeper eh?
It's a pretty thankless position at the best of times, and when your defence is as disorganised as Swindon's - it's no wonder Lawrence Vigoroux is suffering from a few jitters.
Unfortunately for Swindon, those jitters were to prove costly today as the Liverpool loanee dropped a clanger that will be replayed on goalkeeping blooper reels for many years to come.
The mistake masked an otherwise decent performance from Town, albeit one that rarely threatened the opposition box.
The home side dominating possession against the visitors but failing to find the necessary cutting edge to break the deadlock.
Swindon fell behind shortly before the break.
Taylor finding space in the box before squeezing the ball through the Swindon keepers legs.
The lead was doubled minutes into the second half, and it was a moment to forget for Vigoroux.
Receiving a simple pass-back from Branco, the keeper inexplicably let the ball run past him and straight into the path of the onrushing Lee Angol who had the easiest of tap-ins.
Town were given a life line with 73 minutes on the clock.
Posh skipper Michael Bostwick rising high to nod Anton Rodgers set-piece into his own net.
But try as they might, the injury hit Town couldn't quite muster the equaliser that they deserved.
Midfielder Ben Gladwin coming closest, only for his late efforts to fly high, wide and handsome.
"We didn't deserve to lose"
Mark Cooper commented after the game "I thought we did well with the team we cobbled together. I didn’t think we deserved to lose but you can't legislate for the second goal - that gives them something to hang on to. Ben Gladwin came in and added a lot to us. He could have scored three or four goals."
