After suffering a comprehensive pasting at the hands of Fleetwood Town only days ago, it was a welcome, if unlikely, three points for the Town faithful on a chilly night at the County Ground.

 

Martin Ling made 2 changes to the starting 11 from Saturday, with former Spurs youngster Jon Obika returning to the fold along with Louis Thompson.

 

And the changes paid dividends almost immediately, with the sprightly Obika finding space, and then the net with a cool header past keeper Etheridge.

 

From then on Town sat back and invited pressure, and Walsall made the pressure count midway through the second half - Tom Bradshaw leaving Turnbull for dead and lashing past the diving Vigouroux.

 

But as Town fans sank back into their seats, up popped Thompson to steal a very unlikely 3 points - latching onto a loose ball and slotting past the stunned Saddlers keeper.
