Chesterfield manager Dean Saunders was given his marching orders tonight after suffering a fourth-straight defeat to visiting Swindon.

 

After recent weeks, it wasn't a victory many Town fans would have seen coming - even after Nicky Ajose got the game off to the best possible start after just 3 minutes.

 

The easiest of tap-ins presenting itself after some good work down the flank from the nippy Bradley Barry.

 

Just 10 minutes later the lead was doubled - Louis Thompson bursting into the box and drilling past Tommy Lee in the Chesterfield goal.

 

Second half strikes from Obika and Ajose put the outcome without doubt, and in truth it could have been more - Gladwin coming close to notching a fifth only to be denied by the woodwork late on. 

 

A delighted Martin Ling later commented "I can't fault the performance. Everything has been spot on since the Walsall game. We talked about back-to-back performances and we talked about having a complete performance - and I think that was both!"
