Swindon Town's League One campaign got off to the best possible start this afternoon with a confidence boosting win at the County Ground.

 

After some decidedly dodgy pre-season results, Town looked understandably nervous early doors with the away side carving out the clearest opportunites.

 

The Robins grew into the game in the second-half and were unlucky not to take the lead through Michael Doughty - running through on goal only to see his chance blocked at the last by the despairing Coventry defenders.

 

But with the draw beckoning, up stepped Yaser Kasim with 4-minutes left on the clock - steering the ball past the Coventry keeper with a crisp right-footed effort.

 

Town manager Luke Williams was delighted "It’s a very warm day. It’s a big pitch, we moved the ball a lot - there's a lot of ground to cover. Coventry were very good. They kept a very compact five players across the middle and made it difficult but the longer the game went on suddenly there were openings for us and ultimately, it paid off."
