Town skipper Hasney Aljofree was given his marching orders as Swindon struggled against promotion chasing Doncaster Rovers.

Having got back to winning ways last Saturday against Oldham, the same side were unable to have any impact against high flying Donny.

Despite naming an unchanged team, Maurice Malpas' men couldn't build on their encouraging last result as their away day blues continued.

Right from the first whistle it was the hosts that had the better of the game and it was only a great save from keeper Peter Brezovan that kept the sides level.

The giant Slovakian denied Lewis Guy, following a defensive mistake from the usually solid Jamie Vincent.

However Town's number one was helpless just before the break as Sean McDaid latched onto Gareth Taylor's reverse pass and coolly slid the ball past Brezovan.

With his side struggling to gain any control, Maurice Malpas decided to sacrifice the tricky but ineffectual Anthony McNamee with the more direct Billy Paynter.

The switch looked to have had the desired effect when the powerful striker looked to have leveled the scores but his deft lob was brilliantly saved by veteran keeper Neil Sullivan just before the hour mark.

Unfortunately for Town their uphill task was made nigh on impossible on 68 minutes, when Aljofree was sent-off for a professional foul – the experienced defender bringing down Doncaster striker Mark McCammon in a goal-scoring position.

Donny's captain Brian Stock stepped up to take the penalty and easily slotted the spot kick past Brezovan to double his sides lead.

Swindon had a couple of chances late on to grab what would only have been a consolation, but were unable to find a way past Sullivan in the Doncaster goal.

The result leaves the home side right in the hunt for an automatic promotion place, and Swindon languishing in a disappointing 15th place in the League One table.
