Swindon Town 0 Leeds Utd 1

Big crowd. Big atmosphere. But Town fail to rise to the occasion

Coca-Cola League One

RESULT: Swindon Town 0 Leeds Utd 1

Leeds scorer: T Kandol 25

A solitary Tresor Kandol goal was enough to all but end Swindon's hopes of a play-off place.

Town welcomed Gary McAllister and his players to a packed County Ground in what was the club's biggest home gate of the season so far.

Scramble for points:
But it was Leeds United who came out on top in Town's
'game of the season'

Unfortunately, Swindon once again failed to take the chances they created much to the frustration on the home fans, most notably Simon Cox who headed over just before the break when it seemed easier to score.

This after Kandol had struck mid-way through the first-half.

The difficult windy conditions weren't helped by some poor refereeing decision, which at times baffled both sets of supporters.

The second-half was much the same as the first with neither team really seizing the initiative.

Town once again had the better of the chances, but a below par Christian Roberts squandered the hosts best second-half opportunity of an equaliser just past the hour mark.

The Welshman's scuffed back post volley being brilliantly saved by Casper Ankergren in the Leeds goal.

Under pressure for results:
Town's management team of
Maurice Malpas and Dave Byrne

In an attempt to find the equaliser Maurice Malpas replaced young midfielder Chris Allen with wide man Jon-Paul McGovern, but he was unable to find the one piece of magic that would have handed Town a share of the points.

With Swindon only having taken one point from the last four games Maurice Malpas' men will have to put together a string of wins if they are to have any hope of a top six finish.
