Post-match report, pictures and video

Coca-Cola League One

RESULT: Swindon Town 3 Southend United 0

Swindon scorers: Robson-Kanu 13, Cox (2 pens) 19, 90

First-half goals from Hal Robson-Kanu and Simon Cox set up possibly Swindon's most important victory of the season tonight.

Three points that lifts Town up and out of the League One drop zone and eases the pressure on manager Danny Wilson, who described the performance as 'superb'.

Town were ahead after a quick break led to McNamee cutting the ball back to Robson-Kanu, who shot home low from 10 yards out.

A lead that doubled six minutes later, when more neat passing led to Billy Paynter being upended in the box - and Simon Cox giving ex-Swindon old boy Steve Mildenhall no chance from the spot.

In-form Southend - 8 victories in their last 10 games - had no answers for a reassurgent Swindon after that, and, for once, Town fans cheered their players all the way to the final whistle despite the second-half failing to live up to the excitement of the first.

Simon Cox provided the icing on the cake with his second penalty in injury time after Timlin was tripped.

With Yeovil not playing, Swindon move out of the bottom four on goal difference.
