The Simon Cox show returned to the County Ground as Town faced West Brom in their penultimate major preseason encounter.
However, the Baggies new boy was unable to prevent his side from defeat as Swindon put in another strong defensive performance to take the game 1-0.
It was Town's new skipper Gordon Greer that headed his side to victory with a neatly taken goal midway through the first half.
The tall Scot was on hand to guide home Anthony McNamee's pin-point corner and it was nothing more than his side deserved.
Despite a few early scares Dave Lucas was rarely troubled in the Town goal as his defence stood firm against their former team-mate.
Boss Danny Wilson took the opportunity to once again cast his eye over triallist Berlin Ndebe-Nlome, who showed glimpses of what he had to offer, however, a comical left footed swipe that left the whole crowd amused and the pacey front man on his backside.
“I'm delighted to keep the unbeaten run going as it breed confidence looking towards the first game against Gillingham,” said Wilson after the game.
