Library to change opening hours
Book lovers can access Central Library for longer on Sundays
The Express Zone will remain open for the same number of hours per week, but from Tuesday 6 April, the times will change to reflect the demand from customers.
The facility will open half an hour earlier at 8am between Monday and Saturday, allowing customers more time to drop off their books and check their e-mails on their way to work in the mornings, and will close an hour earlier at 9pm between Monday and Friday.
However, the variation in opening hours has allowed Swindon Borough Council’s Library Services to open the Express Zone for an additional two hours on Sundays.
The Express Zone offers the latest and most popular titles, as well as CDs and DVDs outside of normal library opening times. Customers can also gain quick internet access via five public computers, and tap into the library’s FastFilms and FastBacks service. Reserved books will also be available for collection.
“The changes to the Express Zone will be of great benefit to many library users and are designed to fit in with their needs," commented Cllr Fionuala Foley, Cabinet Member for Local Environment and Corporate Affairs.
“The earlier opening times in the morning will make it easier for people to drop off or collect books on the way to work and the new Sunday service adds even more flexibility to the excellent services provided.”
