Children get a lesson in litter
Pupils from Nythe Primary School learn the importance of recycling
Pupils from a Swindon school got the low down on litter during a special visit to Swindon town centre today.
The children, from Nythe Primary School, collected rubbish and learnt about which materials can be recycled, organised by inSwindon in partnership with McDonald's.

The visit is part of a wider project on recycling which involves the whole school.
Other activity included the appointment of `eco-warriors'; students who are responsible for saving energy by turning off lights, taps and other equipment around the school, and a special waste-free lunchbox day that is being organised by teachers at the school.
“The children really enjoyed their visit," said Rita Cockram, who teaches the 34 children from Squirrels Class, "this is a good, fun and practical way for the children to learn about recycling.”
“It's so important that children learn about recycling from a young age," commented Paul Booth from McDonald's "and it's fantastic to have this opportunity to work with Nythe Primary School and inSwindon."
Helping the children to sort the litter was Deputy Mayor of Swindon, Rex Barnett, who presented the children with certificates before they had a McDonald's lunch.
As a thank you for their hard work, and to encourage them to keep recycling, the school will be presented with a prize, kindly donated by McDonald's.
