Prince William and Kate Middleton will attend a special pre-wedding charity dinner in Swindon on Monday 18 April, Buckingham Palace have announced. 

A major Swindon hotel has been chosen for one of only three Royal events of this type across the country, which is expected to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for local causes.

The evening has been organised to thank of all those who couldn't be invited to the Royal Wedding itself, just 11 days later.
 
Four hundred guests are expected to the Swindon dinner including local dignitries and a number of well-known names associated with the area such as Melinda Messenger and Billie Piper.

Jazz sensation Jamie Cullum has been booked to provide the musical entertainment on the night.
 
Swindon-explorer David Hempleman-Adams OBE is said to be saddened, however, that he cannot attend due to his commitment to a current expedition on Mount Everest.
 
Prince Charles, who lives nearby in Tetbury, will also not be attending.
 
Minimum donation
  
As part of the Royal Wedding celebrations, 40 tickets for the dinner have been made available to the general public, and will go on sale today for one-day only, with a minimum donation of £500 per person requested.
 
Places are available on a strictly first-come, first-served basis but those who apply must comply with certain security service conditions.
 
Those wishing to attend the black-tie dinner should ring 01793 862020. All major credit cards are accepted.
