Pain, Pedalling and Pudsey!

Swindon makes an effort for Children In Need

People across Swindon made an effort for Children In Need today, with various fundraising events all adding to what us hoped to be a record year for the BBC charity.

Pudsey at Asda Walmart

Charity mascot Pudset mixed with shoppers as staff raised money with collection boxes, a book stall and by selling home-made cupcakes.

It was hoped the store would raise over 2,000 on the day.

Outsource get on their bikes

A pedalling marathon at Swindon recruitment firm Outsource UK looked like raising 1,000 this afternoon.

With members of staff taking 15 minutes to pedal 3 miles each on an exercise bike (supplied by Nuffield Health) situated in their main office, their efforts had raised 850 after 70 miles.

"We're all working as hard as we can to reach our target," said Outsource UK's Claire Faulconbridge.

Top tips for Pudsey!

Staff at Brooks's Coffee Shop in Highworth donated all of their tips from today to Children In Need.

It was hoped they would reach the 100 mark by closing time after some very generous donations from customers.

Pudsey Pain at The Plum Tree!

And last, but not least, two braves souls at The Plum Tree pub in Swindon town centre made the ultimate sacrifice at lunchtime when volunteering to have their chest hair and eyebrows waxed off!

We captured the whole experience on camera as barman Dave McGlynn went all the way in having BOTH his eyebrows removed, before Landlord Carl McCulloch endured the humiliation of a chest wax in front of friends and regulars.
