Superstardom Beckons For Jahmene

Swindon X-Factor star battles through the butterflies to reach live shows

His nerves almost got the better of him, but Swindon's Jahmene Douglas is through to the Live Shows final of X-Factor.

After an agonising last week in Bootcamp, the 21-year-old battled the butterflies to become one of three 'Boy' acts to be mentored by Nicole Scherzinger - but only just.

"If I put you through it's such a big risk. Fortunately I believe in you and I'm willing to take that risk," she told the singer, who only performed his final song after a back-stage pep talk.

The Live Shows start on Saturday.

Local support

Jahmene will, of course, be cheered on by his work mates at Asda Walmart in West Swindon and thousands more from his home town who have only just become aware of the singer's amazing talent.

Andy Pett, owner of Riffs Bar, will definitely be watching and hopes Douglas can keep performing to his potential.

"He has a fantastic voice, there's no doubt about that," Andy commented.

"He's sung at Riffs a few times and we all said his range is absolutely incredible, but the Live Shows are a massive challenge. I just hope he can keep singing as well as we all know he can, because he's got a real chance if he does."

Mark Plumbridge, Admin Manager at the Asda Walmart Jahmene worked at previously, says the singer has the whole store behind him.

"Everyone here is supporting him 100%."

"When he first joined us he was very quiet & private, but he soon became an integral part of the team and we all loved his sense of humour."

"I knew he could sing, but I didn't realise he could sing like that!"

"We'll all be watching him this weekend to cheer him on."
