Typhoon Haiyan: Swindon's Big Effort

Overwelming support as Town rallies round to help Philippino disaster victims

One week on from the devastating effect of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, donations are still pouring in in Swindon to help the disaster victims.

"Thank you, thank you to everyone," said Lyne Penaflorida of the Swindon Filipino Association, who are co-ordinating the relief effort.

"The response has been amazing and really quite overwelming."

This weekend volunteers continue to gather and sort as much clothing & dried food as they can before they plan to send it all to the disaster zone on 30 November.

Big Yellow in Greenbridge have stepped in to offer free storage units for the Association, who are also collecting at the Great Western Hospital and at the Kabayan Filipino shop in Morley Street.
