Horror Smash on Thamesdown Drive

Son killed, father critically ill & two arrested after early morning collision near Asda Walmart

This was the horrific scene - described by one local photo journalist as 'one of the worst' he had ever seen - after an early morning collision on Thamesdown Drive in north Swindon.

33-year-old Paul Winters, a passenger in a red Nissan driven by his father that was turning into the Orbital Shopping Park at approx. 6.30am, died after their vehicle was hit by a blue Vauxhall Astra driven in the opposite direction.

It is understood that two men then fled the Astra, which partially caught fire, before being arrested later after a search involving Police dogs.
