Brand new Mobile Chemotherapy Unit is launched at The Great Western Hospital
The Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has unveiled a new state of the art Mobile Chemotherapy Unit (MCU) which aims to make life just a little bit easier for patients in Swindon and the surrounding areas.
The unit cost cancer charity Hope for Tomorrow £260,000 to build and maintain for a three year period, and is their eighth unit to be put into operation.
Around eight patients a day to benefit from the service
The Unit will be visiting Calne, Marlborough and three different locations around Swindon which are currently being decided. It will spend one day in each location and around eight patients a day will benefit from the new mobile service.
Helen Winter, Lead Chemotherapy Nurse, Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: "We are very grateful to Hope for Tomorrow for providing another fantastic facility which will make an enormous difference to our patients, giving people more choice and convenience."
