Swindon Pop-Up Museum!
Exhibition shows the past, present & future of Swindon town centre
People were invited to discover and explore how Swindon Town Centre has changed decade to decade and century to century this week.
Swindon Museum and Art Gallery took over Unit 40/41 in the Brunel Shopping Centre Arcade for three days to show off a special Pop-Up Museum exhibition organised by Jon Ratcliffe - ‘Swindon Town Centre : Past, Present and Future’ - with local historians, heritage groups and artists. In partnership with Swindon Heritage magazine, Swindon Society, Forward Swindon, Broadgreen & Queenstown History Group, Museum of Computing, Swindon Libraries and Wilts & Berks Canal Trust, the exhibition told the story of how the centre of Swindon has changed from the days of the canals and trams, to a bustling Victorian centre of commerce and through to the modern day development of offices, cafes and shopping centres.
