Swindon Charity Ball does it again with over £25,000 handed out to needy causes
A beautiful day was made even better for those receiving cheques from the Swindon Charity Ball this evening.
Organised by the Rotary Club of Swindon and held every year at The Marriott Hotel in Old Town, £25,100 was raised when the event took place this May, and nearly £780K in total since the first in 1989.
One of the organisations that benefited hugely last year was Swindon Dial-A-Ride, a local voluntary organisation whose aim is to provide safe, affordable, accessible transport for the community. They received a cheque for £10,000 towards a new mini-bus costing £55K, which they proudly showed off at the presentation.
Swindon Charities receiving money this year include:
Swindon Restore £1,000
Swindon 10-18 Project (STEPS) £3,700
Swindon Therapy Centre for MS £1,500
Prime Theatre £3,210
The Open Door £5,174
Dressability £2,000
MHA Music Therapy Appeal £1,000
Swindon Scrapstore (Scrappers Gym) £2,516
