Weird weather leaves former South Marston hotel looking like the Bates Motel from Hitchcock thriller
Half-demolished and standing alone in the middle of a building site in South Marston, what's left of the former Mercure Hotel had a most eerie look today.
With an unusual reddish sky caused by Hurricane Ophelia dragging in tropical air and dust from the Sahara, the scene almost looked like one featuring the frightening Bates Motel from the Hitchcock 60s thriller.
The area is being redeveloped for housing after the hotel - and before it a country club - stood on the site since the early 70s.
