Park Library reopens
Regeneration of Cavendish Square takes shape
A bigger and better Park Library
was reopened this morning, as part of the regeneration of Cavendish Square.
The revamped library has increased in size by nearly a third, making room for around 1,500 new books, more than double the number of computers, and a larger children's area. It also boasts new shelving and furniture, improved lighting and self-service technology so books can be borrowed and returned more easily. Avid reader Margaret Ashby, aged 72, has been a member of the library for more than 40 years and is looking forward to having a new library.
She said: "I’m very excited. I’ve always read lots of books – usually about two to three a week, so I’m thrilled that there will be more to choose from."
Councillor Justin Tomlinson, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Culture and Recreation, said: "I am delighted that Park Library is now back in action for people to use.
"The library has been greatly improved and I hope everyone will enjoy making full use of the bigger, better facility, which forms an important part of this exciting regeneration project." |
