The parents of Ashley Whiteway have paid tribute to their son following his death on Thursday.

Ashley’s parents said:

“Ashley was a much-loved son who will be sadly missed by all his family. The last few days have been a difficult time for us and we would ask that people respect our desire for privacy as we come to terms with our loss.”

Ashley's friend, Dean Harle, who was seriously injured in the accident, remains in a critical condition.

The two Toothill schoolboys were struck by a bus late on Thursday evening in Westlea Drive when crossing the road to Westlea Recreation Ground.
