Well I Never!

With 95-year-old Prince Philip announcing his retirement, we look back on his last visit to Swindon

The Duke of Edinburgh announced his retirement from royal duties today.

The duke, who turns 96 next month, will no longer carry out public engagements from August of this year, Buckingham Palace confirmed.

Prince Philip has visited Swindon on a few occasions so we thought
we'd dig a few pics out of our archive of his last visit to Swindon on 28 February 2003.

A trip that included the exciting prospect of officially opening the Great Western Hospital; meeting students at the new education facility at New College and - in the pouring rain - switching on the Jubilee Clock in Swindon town centre.

Ahhh, the memories!
