Jermaine Jackson enjoys the Swindon experience

First it was Tito - now it's Jermaine. Swindon is suddenly the new, unlikely hangout for members of the Jackson Five.

A month on from the visit of Tito Jackson to town, his brother Jermaine has rocked in as well.

A stop-over today that included such celebrity pasttimes as sightseeing in Swindon town centre, a spot of shopping at WH Smith in Regent Street - and lunch and a swift one at the Savoy pub!

A Swindon experience Mr. Jackson described as "...delightful!"
That was all before the singing star, also brother of Michael, Randy, Marlon and Jackie, spent time praising a Swindon anti-bullying campaign set up by close friend Matt Fiddes, who accompanied him throughout the day.

Up-close and personal
Jermaine's visits Swindon

Jermaine taking time to speak to a group of children at the Matt Fiddes Martial Arts School based at Centre Fitness, where he also posed for pictures and signed autographs.

"I've always been very impressed with Matt's work," the 52-year-old star said, "and I support this campaign 1000%."

"It's an honour to get the opportunity to speak to young people, who are the leaders of tomorrow, and to encourage them to do the right things in life."

On the mike:
Jermaine Jackson speaks out against bullying

In a brief question and answer session on the subject of bullying, Mr. Jackson also took the opportunity to speak up for Jade Goody, the controversial character who Jermaine spent four weeks with recently in the Big Brother house.

"I honestly don't believe there is a racist bone in Jade's body. Yes, she bullied Shilpa and that was wrong. But it's all got way too blown up now."

Unfortunately, Jermaine couldn't answer the question of whether sibling mega-star Michael Jackson would be making it a Jackson 1-2-3 of appearances in Swindon.

"He's in the UK and Ireland a lot," said the Motown star, "and I know Matt has invited him because he's also a good friend.

"Tito put in a good word for Swindon with me, so who knows? I sure like it here and I know he would to."

Escorted by his entourage of minders and fans, Jermaine finally left Centre Fitness just before 5pm - only to just miss his train to London.
Easy as 1, 2... 3!:
