A day of reflection
Swindon commemorate the Holocaust Memorial Day
People of all ages attended a ceremony at the Swindon cenotaph today, to mark Holocaust Memorial Day.
Commemorating not only the Holocaust of world war two (the Auschwitz concentration camps were liberated on 27 January 1945), the event also sets out to remember numerous other human rights tragedies around the world, including persecution and wars, past and present.
“This is an important day to remember," commented Council Leader Cllr Roderick Bluh.
"It's an opportunity for quiet reflection and for everyone in Swindon to renew their commitment to building a strong and caring community, which embraces people of all faiths, beliefs, backgrounds and nations.”
