Just the ticket!

New express bus service to cut travel time

Commuters from North Swindon will be able to travel to and from Swindon town centre in record time from the 01 June, thanks to a new express bus service being launched by Thamesdown Transport.

The Priory Vale Express, the new Service12 bus, will pick up at key locations off Thamesdown Drive and then run direct via Cricklade Road and Cirencester Way to Fleming Way in Swindon town centre.

The Priory Vale Express will also pick up on Cricklade Road at Groundwell West and Queensfield.

Journey times will be 35 minutes from Oakhurst, 25 minutes from Redhouse, 21 minutes from Abbey Meads and 18 minutes from St Andrew’s Ridge.

As most homes in North Swindon are within a ten-minute walk of a Service 12 bus stop, this will mean commuters form Abbey Meads, for example, will be able to reach the centre of town in about half an hour.

“The Priory Vale Express offers a new direct route into town for North Swindon commuters, cutting their journey times significantly," said Paul Jenkins, Thamesdown’s MD.

"It also provides an alternative for people who have hitherto used the Groundwell Park & Ride bus service, which will run for the final time on Saturday 30th May.”

Fares: Normal zonal fares will apply on the new Priory Vale Express service – that is £1.70 one-way; £3.20 for a Dayrider and £13 for a Weekly Travelpass. All these fares are available from the bus driver. Please note that drivers are unable to give change so passengers should have the exact fare ready.
