Wolverhampton 89 Swindon 97

Swindon are through to the Semi Final stages of the Elite league Knockout cup

Swindon are through to the Semi Final stages of the Elite League Knockout Cup after collecting an eight point aggregate victory over Wolverhampton.

The Robins were defeated by thirteen points in Monday’s second leg but the twenty one point cushion Swindon had conjured at Blunsdon in March ensured Alun Rossiter’s septet progressed to the next round of the competition with comfort.

On a night of typically entertaining Monmore Green action, the Robins successfully halted the Wolverhampton charge in the opening heats but a late flurry saw the home side notch heat advantages in four of the final six races.

The Robins led the meeting in the early stages and nurtured two point cushions after heats two and five. However, Wolverhampton stamped their authority towards the conclusion but Swindon’s earlier good form was enough to see the Wiltshire side prevail.

A nine point haul from Jurica Pavlic topped the Robins’ score chart and the Croatian received support from Swindon Captain Leigh Adams who notched a paid nine contribution. An identical figure was acquired by Ryan Fisher whose impressive start to the season continued whilst Travis McGowan worked hard to collect a paid seven tally.

Wolverhampton were well served by their Captain Peter Karlsson who collected a characteristically professional paid fifteen point maximum. The experienced Swedish International received decent support from his compatriot Freddie Lindgren and also Australian youngster Ty Proctor who amassed a lively paid twelve points.
