Swindon 55 Ipswich 37

The Robins continue their 'Summer of Speed'

Swindon claimed their eighth win on the spin, as they overwhelmed Ipswich at a positively balmy Blunsdon to move 4 points clear at the head of the Sky Sports Elite League standings.

Both Simon Stead and Matej Zagar weighed in with tallies of 13+1 points, while Leigh Adams notched an unbeaten 11+1 for the 113th full-house (52 full and 61 paid) of his amazing Swindon career.

Swindon collected all three Elite League points on offer as they eased passed Ipswich on a night of entertaining Abbey Stadium action.

The Robins led throughout and limited the visiting side to just three heat victories, two of which came from the lively Robert Miskowiak who was the most impressive Witches’ rider on show.

Swindon’s score chart was headed by a bumper paid fourteen point haul from Simon Stead.

The Brit deservedly scooped the man of the match award and could have amassed more points if it hadn’t been for an ignition failure whilst comfortably leading heat fifteen.

Elsewhere, Leigh Adams contributed a characteristically immaculate paid twelve point maximum whilst fellow heat leader Matej Zagar notched paid fourteen.

Travis McGowan registered a well acquired paid eleven points and once again showed good battling qualities from the second string department.

The Milduran reserve pairing of Cory Gathercole and Justin Sedgmen were also in the thick of the action and provided the Abbey Stadium terraces with plenty of entertainment.

Swindon’s eventual eighteen point margin of victory was well deserved and bolstered their lead in the Sky Sports Elite League table.
