One hand on the title

Swindon 49 Coventry 43

One down, one to go. The Robins put on an assured performance in-front of a packed house at the Abbey Stadium last night in the first leg of the Elite League Grand Final.

Alun Rossiter's side will now take a 6 point advantage into the second leg, next Monday, at the Brandon Stadium in Coventry.

A near perfect ride from the returning hero Leigh Adams was the catalyst, dropping only one point the whole evening.
However, it could have been so much better with Damian Balinski and Lee Richardson both taking tumbles, when in scoring positions.

Six Point Lead:
the scores going into the second leg

“Overall I’m happy with the way things went,” said an unusually reserved Alun Rossiter “we would have liked a few more, but we are more than capable of going there and holding our lead.”

The mood emanating from the Swindon camp was one of cautious optimism, with seasoned speedway fans feeling that Coventry will be the happier of the two sides heading into the return fixture.
