Swindon Wildcats vs Peterborough Phantoms
The Cats fall at the last hurdle losing 7-2 in the play-offs
With the last home game of the season and first play-off game Swindon had it all to do as they were up against League Champions the Peterborough Phantoms.
The game couldn't of got off to a worse start with just 26 seconds gone the Phantoms taking the lead with an early goal.
Peterborough were looking to take the game to Swindon as they continued to attack the Swindon net. Swindon came back at them and with just over three minutes of the period left, Kohut levelled the score sending them into the break with a tied game.
The second period started at a fast pace and it was again Peterborough who found the net half way through the period. They clinched a third goal just two minutes later giving them a 3-2 lead. Swindon tried to get back into the game but with some good defending from the Phantoms they couldn't find the net.
Things got worse for Swindon when Peterborough scored twice again before the period ended and sent the visitors into the period break with a convincing 5-1 lead The 3rd period started and it was Aaron Nell who found the net first to give the home side a glimmer of hope, but in true champion form they came straight back at the Cats, and extended the lead to 6-2. With the game as good as over the Phantoms scored a lucky 7th goal that came from a behind the goal line pass and deflected in off Kudrnas skates.
The game ended with a 7-2 win for the visitors and surely ending the wildcats playoff hopes.
